Humanity Road activated its disaster desk on March 17, 2017 after intense rains have caused severe flooding in 24 of Peru’s 25 regions. Volunteers using social media guided the public on official agencies to follow to gain updated information about the situation. On Monday, March 20, 2017 Humanity Road published its first situation report containing social media links and helpful information for the public impacted.

More than 180,000 people are under evacuation orders which also includes “all Yuba County on the valley floor” and the city of Marysville. Evacuations have been ordered for low levels of Oroville, California, and several areas downstream from Lake Oroville because of erosion on the Oroville Dam’s auxiliary spillway, according to the Butte County Sheriff’s Office.
